Amsterdam 31st March 2021: Q1 Activity report

Having disbursed € 1,168m to COVID-related charities in full year 2020, the donation process has started slowly in 2021 with € 10 000 donated in January to Rode Neuzen Dag (Belgium Red Nose Day).

However, we have strong ambitions both for fund raising and disbursements in 2021. As at 31/03/2021, the Foundation has a bank balance of € 200 111.

Kepler Cheuvreux SA continues to donate € 50 000 per month to the Foundation and will continue to do so during 2021.

Employees who were eligible for a performance bonus from Kepler Cheuvreux SA were invited in March to donate a fraction of their bonus to the Foundation. The campaign started in February and, so far to end Q1, the initiative has raised € 205 700 from 126 employees.  Once the campaign is completed, the money will be credited to the Foundation.

We have two big fund-raising initiatives planned for 2021: a second Kepler Cheuvreux Charity Trading Day to be held in the autumn and the Kepler Cheuvreux North-South Challenge. The Challenge involves asking the employees of Kepler Cheuvreux SA to seek sponsorship from friends, family and clients to cover the 2966km from our Oslo office to our Madrid office by running, hiking or cycling. The Challenge takes place on the weekends of 29th & 30th May and 5th & 6th June. The target is to raise at least € 15 000 via the JustGiving fund raising platform. As at 31/03/2021, 137 employees have registered to participate and cumulatively they have pledged to cover 8006km. We have already reached 50% of our € 15 000 fund-raising target via the JustGiving platform.

The focus on donations for at least the first half of 2021 will remain on Food Banks across Europe. The Foundation’s Board continues to believe that the economic aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic will be felt for a long time: giving to Food Banks appears to be a way of providing immediate support to those who have been hit hardest by the crisis.
