Kepler Cheuvreux is acquiring the business activities of Derivatives Capital in order to create the leading independent structured products platform in France*

Paris, 3rd December, 2013

Having traded over € 1.2 bn worth of structured products in 2013, the merged business will become the leading independent platform for the intermediation of structured products in France. Derivatives Capital, which will become Derivatives Capital Kepler Cheuvreux, will extend its service offering thanks to Kepler Cheuvreux’s expertise as a leading European equity research house, as well as its expertise in dedicated cross-asset research and financial engineering. In turn, Kepler Cheuvreux will intensify its growth strategy and will benefit from broadened client coverage and the know-how gained by Derivatives Capital on the French market.

Kepler Cheuvreux is a European leader in financial intermediation, research and independent advice. The Group is active across four business lines: Equities, Debt & Derivatives, Corporate Finance and Investment Solutions.

The team from Derivatives Capital will join up with their counterparts from Investment Solutions, which is the Kepler Cheuvreux business line which has responsibility for the creation and distribution of structured products. Julien Marette, who is the founding CEO of Derivatives Capital, will be named Managing Partner within the Investment Solutions team which is headed by Nicolas Miara-Godet.

Following on from the recent acquisition of Cheuvreux which has considerably strengthened the Group in terms of financial research and client coverage, today’s deal with Derivatives Capital marks a turning point in the expansion of the Investment Solutions business line at Kepler Cheuvreux’ commented Nicolas Miara-Godet.

Julien Marette added ‘In a market where critical mass has become a major success factor, the multi-local presence, the quality of the shareholders and the scale of Kepler Cheuvreux will be a huge benefit in our goal to reinforce our leadership on the French market and to accelerate our development in Europe’.

The Investment Solutions business line is specialized in the research, conception and distribution of bespoke structured products across all the asset classes (equities, fixed income, commodities, currencies, investment funds…). The open architecture platform offers investment solutions and coverage adapted to all types of professional clients: Institutions, Corporate and Private Wealth Management (private banks, investment companies, independent financial advisers and distribution networks).

*The acquisition is subject to regulatory approval by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR).

The Investment Solutions business line is headed by Nicolas Miara-Godet along with Romain Chassard and, in the near future, Julien Marette, as deputy heads. The activities of the team comprise financial engineering, sales, marketing and cross-asset research and its products will be offered in the distribution market under the brand name ‘Derivatives Capital Kepler Cheuvreux’.
